A Letter to Grace Bible Church

To the members of Grace Bible Church,

By God’s grace, this summer will mark six years that I have had the privilege of being a pastor at Grace Bible Church. Pastoring at Grace has truly been one of the great privileges of my life. So, it is with sadness, excitement and, above all, deep gratitude that I am resigning my position as Executive Pastor at Grace Bible Church to accept the position of Pastor at Orlando Grace Church.

As many of you know, Orlando is where I grew up, where I went to seminary and where my family still lives. Not only is this new church called Grace, they are theologically identical to Grace Bible Church, they have worked closely with RTS and Cru and their main overseas church partner is actually the church we helped to plant in Salerno! Angela and I believe that God has been clearly working to prepare us for this church and we are eager to see what He has for us in this next season.

Even though we see God’s clear leading, this transition will obviously have its fair share of grieving. In leaving Oxford, we are leaving all of Angela’s family, the only home three of our four children have ever known and a place where we have developed some of the most meaningful friendships of our lives.

Still, as Christians, we aren’t seeking the place we are most comfortable, but the place we are called. We are confident that Orlando Grace Church is our call and we ask for your prayers as we transition to a new city, a new church, a new school and an altogether new life.

Please know how thankful we are to each of you and the special role you have played in our lives over the past six years. I am especially thankful for JD, Chris, Isaac, Tic and Baldwin who hired me six years ago with no church experience and no seminary degree. I can’t overstate how thankful I am for the experience and skills I have gained at Grace Bible Church.

My last day at Grace Bible Church will be Sunday, July 15th and my first day at Orlando Grace Church will be August 1st. We expect to see you frequently, though, as we come home to visit. We will certainly be praying for you and that Grace Bible Church continues to be a place where the Bible is taught, the gospel is preached and the Kingdom is growing.
